![]() ![]() In addition to his research activities, Dr. Anderson additionally serves as a member of the Society for General Internal Medicine national research committee, an associate editor for the Journal of General Internal Medicine, and as affiliate faculty at the BIDMC Hypertension Center at Healthcare Associates and the BIDMC Smith Center for Outcomes Research in Cardiology. ![]() Anderson greatly enjoys mentoring medical students, residents, and fellows interested in health services and health policy research. His research utilizes advanced observational research methods to improve our understanding of the outcomes of healthcare delivered to patients in the hospital, in the clinic, and during transitions of care. Anderson's primary research interests are identifying strategies to improve the quality of care delivered to older adults with chronic conditions and to reduce the delivery of low-value prescribing and diagnostic testing. Timothy Anderson is a clinician-investigator in the Division of General Medicine at BIDMC, Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, and the Lead for Improving Value in Healthcare at the BIDMC Center for Healthcare Delivery Science. Tim also led the investigation into attacks on the Christchurch mosques in March 2019.Dr. This national group is comprised of covert policing units across New Zealand, cyber-crime, digital and physical forensics units, child protection and adult sexual assault investigations and CIB training standards. Tim has also served as the National Crime Manager for three years leading the National Criminal Investigation Group. In 2008, he moved to Rotorua as a Detective Senior Sergeant where he gained significant experience in serious crime investigation and the covert side of investigating organised crime.Īs a Detective Inspector, he was the District Crime Manager in the Bay of Plenty for five years and during this time he solved several cold case homicides. He joined the Police in 1994 and has held a range of appointments across Auckland and Bay of Plenty, including supervising many investigations into a wide range of serious criminal offending.Īs a trained Personal Protection Officer, Tim has been part of the operational security planning teams for major political events in New Zealand such as APEC and CHOGM.Īs a Senior Sergeant, Tim managed the prosecution offices in Auckland. Tim holds a Bachelor of Laws with Honours from the School of Law, Auckland University, majoring in International criminal law and employment law. “In every interaction I have, whether it’s dealing with offenders, victims, partners or the public, I want them to know that when they see me and they talk to me, that I am here for them and I am also here for my incredible team throughout the district,” says Tim. I have a strong commitment to strengthening partnerships and increasing the public’s trust in Police. “Stepping into this role it is my desire to say and do things that make our collective community proud. Tim has previously relieved as the District Commander not only in Bay of Plenty, but also Auckland City and Southern Districts. ![]() Having already started his duties as the new Bay of Plenty District Commander earlier in the year, he takes on a role previously held by Superintendent Andy McGregor, who retired in June, after seven-and-a-half years. Today's pōwhiri was an opportunity to officially pass the baton onto Tim who is no stranger to the Bay of Plenty District.ĭescribing the pōwhiri as being an emotional experience Tim says he was extremely humbled by the occasion and is looking forward to being back in the area he’s worked in several times over his 28 years in Police. Ngāi Te Rangi, Ngāti Pūkenga and Ngāti Ranginui recognise the importance of our work together going forward so we can support Tim in his position." ![]() A new Police District Commander, Superintendent Tim Anderson, Te Atihaunui-a-Paparangi was formally welcomed with a pōwhiri to the Bay of Plenty District this morning at the Hungahungatoroa Marae in Tauranga by local iwi and guests. ![]()
